We have received many questions on the curtain design for angled window/ceiling. For regular sized windows, the curtain design can be creative. However, the angled ceiling is tricky to work with due to the uneven curtain height and gravity. We have recently completed a project in Marina Del Rey, California with an angled high ceiling and helped our client minimize morning sunlight and light glare. Here is how we designed angled curtains that fit the two parallel angled floor to ceiling windows. For the curtain mobility Considering the ceiling height is more than 11′, hand-drawn curtains are not practical. We came up with two solutions, an electrically motorized track orstationery curtains. Since an electrician will need to be involved for the motorized track and it will be a larger project than our client had planned, we decided on a pair of stationary panels. The stationary panels create flowy curves when being held back for this loft space. For the curtains heading style Grommet or rod pocket styles are out of the picture because they couldn’t stay in place when curtains are closed. Ripple fold style can work but we figured the French pleat style matches the wood-paneled ceiling much better. The end carriers on both ends help secure the curtain tops in place. The French pleat headers also hide the curtain track effortlessly. For the curtain height and holdbacks We agree on the puddling look for a relaxed lofty feel.
