Hi there! These are some examples of curtains I custom made for some wonderful people recently. I want you to see how I take all of the colors/style from the wall colors, art, furniture, rugs, etc. All you have to do is give me a color palette to go off of, & a few pics of your space. I’ll do the rest, the custom design of your fun, gypsy style curtains that will take your existing space to another level!Let’s talk, I love brainstorming about a new commission, I view these are pieces of art, just using fabric as a medium. Thank you so much for stopping by!Lyndsey I have an affinity for linens, fabrics, vintage scarves, pieces of torn, discarded remnants of what once was something….perhaps a tablecloth, or a skirt, a scarf once worn around the neck of a stylish 1960s fashionista….Each piece holds a story. I thoroughly enjoy searching for wonderful, new, unique fabrics, to tear into strips, and make into an art piece that hangs on your window, as a shower curtain, maybe replacing your closet doors, or a backdrop for a wedding, baby shower, photo shoot. Perfect for a dorm room to add color without having to put holes in the wall. Just hang each end on tacks or command hooks….There are two options to hang1. Tie in knots onto a strand of ribbon for you to hang end to end on nails, tacks, hooks,etc. 2. I tie loops on each strand, so that you receive it all together on a ribbon, and you just slip a curtain rod into each loop….then just hang the curtain rod as usual. These are heavy, so I would recommend keeping that in mind. I don’t use your usual, cheap surplus fabric. I use textiles with character, age, texture, fullness, charm. Some are repurposed clothing, some are scarves, vintage curtains, vintage fabric raids from estate sales, some are imported from India, and Africa. I can tell you that you will not just like this curtain. I put so much time and love into each one. I don’t want them to just be ordinary. Because when I started Flying Whimsy, it was not to just go with the status quo. It was
because we are all extraordinary. We too are layered, complex, colorful, beautiful, unique. There has never been, and never will be another you. Same with my curtains. My beautiful, flowing art pieces. Each one is one of a kind. Unique. Just wait until you get yours hung up. Then you’ll get what I’m saying. : )I have a passion for these seemingly insignificant pieces of fabric. I will make them into something beautiful again, to be put on display. They will have a purpose. And if you ever feel like you are not important in the grand scheme of things…..if you are feeling like a discarded scrap to just be thrown away and overlooked….remember this. Sometimes we just need to take what we have, where we are, and recreate ourselves. So, take inventory of your life, where you’re at. Look around you. I know you will see beautiful, colorful, pieces you can take and make something from. Something beautiful. If I can do it with rags, you can do it with your life.
