Kitchen curtains are a functional and decorative element, enhancing both privacy and style in your cooking and dining space. From café-style half-curtains to full-length drapes, they come in various designs to suit rustic, modern, or farmhouse aesthetics. Lightweight fabrics like cotton or linen allow natural light while offering a degree of seclusion. Many kitchen curtains feature easy-to-clean materials, resistant to grease and moisture. Patterns such as gingham, florals, or solids can complement cabinetry and backsplashes, tying the room’s decor together. Whether for a cozy breakfast nook or a sleek contemporary kitchen, curtains add warmth and personality.

Did you guess which room I’m working on with the peeks I’ve been giving you? Yes the breakfast room and kitchen got a fresh coat of paint and I will share the full reveal later. For now I wanted to show you how we turned the long drapes into cute cafe curtains. After taking down the drapes to paint the walls I was loving the light coming in so I decided I didn’t want to put the drapes back the way they were. I have always loved the look of cafe curtains and started looking on line to order some. Then the idea to just revamp what I had sounded like a much better idea and free. Mr. Savvy had added the curtain rod where I wanted it placed and then offered to help me with the curtains. Yep he is a jack of all trades and yes, he has his shirt off. I told him to put it on before I started shooting pics, but hey the He man said no so you get what you get. At least the iron hides most of him. 🙂 We hung one drape panel from the rod so we could see where to mark it to cut. Then he started pinning the length to hem since we cut them about two inches longer. I told him we needed to fold the edge under and iron a nice crease and then fold that under with the stitch witch and iron. So that is when he started pulling the pins back out and he ironed the creases in. I was going to do this myself, but hey, he offered. I’m so glad we could do this without sewing. Gotta love this stuff. Even though he could have sewn them with the machine. He is actually better at that than me. I break out in a sweat in front of a sewing machine. See the nice crease he made and then it all got ironed down on the stitch witch tape. Nice and neat. We only had to use one panel since the panels were so long. Now, I can use the other one for pillows or cushions covers or maybe even some napkins. We had these curtains measured, cut, hemmed and hung in less than an hour. I’m loving the new look.

Recently I shared a little update to my home office…yellow buffalo check curtains. (You’ll find that post here: Buffalo Curtains for the Office) I’m really enjoying them. They have me craving new curtains/drapes for my family room and bedroom. After I shared the curtains in my office, I received an email from Marlene. She had read my post about how much I love the look of the buffalo check fabric and was nice enough to share some pics of her buffalo check curtains. I fell in love with her traditional decor and couldn’t wait to share her beautiful library and

If you’ve read this blog for a while you may recognize my friend’s Elizabeth’s kitchen. Back in December I shared a few pics of her Christmas decor and promised more of her gorgeous home. Well, have we got more! Last fall Elizabeth said she was ready to redo the curtains in her kitchen and adjoining family room. The original window treatments we made for Elizabeth’s living room were floor length black
